You know it's good if clients or possible clients like it. As a client I hate pages that put you on hold while their page takes like forever to come up; you don't need a website full of flash animations, heavy graphics and movies to have a good site. Clear lay out is also important, you don't want to guess how to move around a page. Another mistake I find in some small business websites is poor contact information, no email, telephone or address. At last the most important is "the looks" it might sounds cold but when I visit a website that is poorly made and looks like a High School project I don't feel in the mood to spend my money and trust on them.

Make sure all the proper information is included on your website.
Include an "About" section, where it lists a good story/history of how the business came about, a "Portfolio" section showcasing your products with prices, and "Contact" section listing hours as well as all forms of contact.

its should tell people about your business and why its better that others. quick loading is veeeeeeeeeeeery important, cos people tend to try something else when the page is opening for more that 10 sec. clear info, easy to read, classic colours and typefaces should work for almost any business website.
