I am a 26yr old female, have a 9 yr old son and I suffer through night sweats more than 3x a week. I'm not talkin about being a bit clammy when I awake; I mean the night before last, I woke up and thought I peed on myself. My sheets, blanket, pillows, t-shirt and OMG lets not go to the hair, were DRENCHED, almost as if I came out of the shower without a towel to dry off with. NASTY! Please help me.

Two possibilities spring to mind...early menopause or TB which can cause severe night sweats. I suggest you see you doctor.

Sounds like something is up with your hormone levels. Are you taking any kind of birth control? Is there any chance you could be pregnant? Do you have any other symptoms, like breast tenderness, mood swings, irritability, or fatigue? Consider those things, and if the night sweats continue, I'd go to a doctor (preferably an ob/gyn) just to be on the safe side. Hope it gets better! :)

I am 34 years old and I have horrible night sweats also. Mine started 4 years ago once I tied my tubes after the birth of my son. They are a worse the entire week before my period. My head is soaked, in between my breasts, behind my knees...it's terrible. I have researched this a little and found out I may have perimenopause. I just find it strange that it only happens a week before my period. My doctor put me on hormones and stuff...but that only made me have other problems. I will keep you updated if I find out more info and please do the same with me. Thanks.

This is a strong sign of menopause. You should see your Ob. gyn or your family practitioner to do a hormone test. It would be way out of the norm. But this is definitely a sign of menopause, of course it could be a sign of something I am not familiar with.

I am now 65, but went into surgical menopause at 37. NOT FUN.

Good luck. Isn't it fun?

Pay no attention to the 'tumor' answer....ignorant person.

Night sweats like that are usually due to a hormonal imbalance....which can be caused by a number of things....you should check ASAP with your doctor.

Night sweats can also occur with diabetes or with excessive alcohol intake.

It's a severe infection or tumor. Hiv will do that to you. I suggest testing for that first, THEN go looking for other causes. But....DO look! It's important, because you have something bad going on in you. Maybe it's curable if you catch it soon enough.

Sage (below) is possibly correct, too. Diabetes will cause night sweats, but sweating as severely as you describe could be even more of a problem. Maybe not, though, but you SERIOUSLY need to get checked out soon!!
