I'm assuming that you are asking how to search for a word that starts with A, but want the results to NOT include another word.

Is that correct? If so then I would suggest using Boolean searches. If you place a + before a word, it tells the search engine that its results MUST include that word, and if you want it NOT to include a word place a - before the word.

For instance, if you were searching for information regarding Saturn, the planet, and just put in "Saturn" into the yahoo search tool, you would receive many results that include the automobile of the same name as well as astrology sites. Editing the search to say
+Saturn Planet -Auto -Car -Horoscope

Would return a search that included sites listing the word Saturn in their keywords but would not display sites regarding the cars or horoscope information.

double click on the text box that you are typing in, a list of all searches should appear, slowly mouse to one and press the delete key. you can't hold down delete, because it will auto close, just slowly press delete while moused over the first option.
