I cannot record on a Philips dvdr70 for more than about one minite, then a message comes up _ 'disk error'. The same dvdr+rw disks record ok on a Philips dvdr 890 & also PLAY ok on the Philips dvdr70 as do pre-recorded disks. Any answers please? John.

ok some small faults, which takes only seconds to sort out.

1. use a dvd lens cleaner.

2. have you " formatted " disc before you record on it.

3. if it is a philips dvd, then they are know problems with them not working on a philips machine!!!!!!!

I have had three Philips DVD recorders. They all ended up with persistent error messages. I will never buy another one, and have chucked my latest Philips one in a skip - I can't even be bothered to get it repaired. I'm off to buy a Sony - you might want to do the same.

the reading lens might be weak and your that particular CD is scratchy at a particular scene. both of these could be responsible for this behavior,

better try with another brand new CD and revert
