Its interesting that people took my question "would you be offended if i wore a "i love being white" T-shirt?" to mean that I am jealous of dark skinned women...where do you people come up with this stuff??? I also did not say I was offended.

Unfortunately, wearing an "I love being white" T-shirt would probably offend some people. This is because the term "Black Pride" is assumed to be positive and the term "White Pride" is used by racist groups to symbolize racism. I believe that this dates back to slavery days when "White Pride" was contingent on how much white people could oppress blacks and keep them in chains and under control. "White Pride" was contingent on how much you hated and feared. The slave master might have bound my people in chains but they also bound up your soul. This is the legacy the slavemaster left white people and that is sad. Because many whites were instrumental in ending slavery and helping runaway slaves to freedom. Case in point: The Pennslyvania Dutch (who were really of German descent) were major conductors on the Underground Railroad. There were also whites who "played the racist game" during the day and put a porch light on at night to guide fugitive slaves to freedom. How schizophrenic that must have been! These people could have lost everything and thrown into the fields as slaves themselves! Yes, white people CAN jump, HAVE rhythm, AND soul! Except you were punished for so long for having these beautiful things! I do take issue with Black people who try to play the victim role every chance they get and with White people who feel constantly guilty. We all need to get over it. How about this for a T-Shirt: "White is Beautiful--And So Are All The Other Colors Of The Rainbow"!!! Or, one that says "Vanilla Soul--Alive And Well in 2007". God Bless.

you seem like you are kinda jealous. It ticked you off so much that you posted it here on YQA. So it had to be bothering you. If you wore a t-shirt saying I love being white..some people would comment and others wouldn't. People will be people. There are millions of people that dislike it when black people unite. It really catchs their eye and they get a bit angry. Not much has changed sense slavery. Although the name has changed ...things are really still the same.
Sh8T I had to add this ......this is for the person talking about if cable were to add WET( White Entertainment Tele.) Of course black people and other people would get upset not because of WHAT YOU CALL IT, but because if you look into HIS STORY you will see that mostly every time whites have stood up and started promoting white power and pride bad things followed. And today when blacks see white promoting white power and pride it opens old wounds. Did you think of it like this? NO. beside that whites don't need to name their TV station because almost all the TV stations are white anyway.....it's obvious. and it doesn't just apply to TV, but many other things in this society.

I think that showing who you are is beautyful. I also wear t-shirts from my country or clubs I belong to. I don't feel ashamed and for those who may find it offending I hope not find wearing t-shirts or any other memorabilia of schools, sports teams, and anything else you can wear, and show you are part of being part of because if the same thing just a bit more serious!!!!

One thing though........I hate when people say their countries are best when they live and work somewhere else and claim has nothing to do with that but the truth is that it just looks bad!!!!

There is nothing wrong with pride. You should be proud of who you are. If her shirt said "I love being black and all white people should burn in hell", then yes... you should be offended.

Pride is not the problem. Supremacy is the problem. There is a difference.

Would I be offended? No.

However, if I DID come in wearing "I Love being White" I'd be called a racist. There is a sense of reverse discrimination against whites in the US by blacks and I dare them to deny it, simply because it's true. For instance; there is a BET (Black Entertainment Television)....what if we had "WET" (White Entertainment Television)...there would be a hew and cry from the "black" community about racist TV. There are many instances of such reverse discrimination. And because of that alone; those that wear these so called 'black pride' shirt, coats, what have you need to be aware of what they're doing, and I betcha they don't, nor do they see it that way....but it is a form of discrimination; the thing they 'strive' to rid of.

I wish positive white people would express pride for their race, but I think that they don't want to be confused with their "White Pride" counterparts, so they don't!!

I wouldn't be offended @ all, I've had to tolerate alot worse, so that would be a breath of fresh air to me.

probably, there always is. the thing is i know plenty of white people who would be offended by that lady and her tshirt. it's sad really. what isn't so sad is the fact that she wore her tshirt proudly and didn't care if it was offensive to anyone else or not. we can't choose how we want others to feel about us or what we do, and truthfully it's none of our business, unless they choose to make it our business. blessed be

To answer the question no. The real question here is why are you offended if someone is proud of the way they look? Are concealing some form of jealously of darker skinned people?
