What I mean is, can you glue things onto it like toy soldiers, buttons, fake trim...you know, extras that aren't a part of the original pine block.

See what I mean?

yes you can you just have to make sure it is at the weight it is suposed to be and you have to use the wheels that they give you but other wise you can use pretty much anything else to make it look cool like a tail fin/spoiler or paint or a bumper so on so forth.....

If this is for the boy scout/cub scout pine car derby they have specific rules as to what you can add to the car. I am sure you can ask the coordinator for specific rules.

Yes you can. Generally, the only real restrictions are on the wheels and the weight.
