As you can see they are fairly new, should I move them out some?

Are these shrubs too big to be in front of a deck which is 6 feet high?

I plan to keep them at 6 feet.

FOR ANYBODY ELSE WHO ANSWERS THIS , WHO KNOWS, IF I MAINTAIN THIS HEDGE A LITTLE OVER 6 FEET , MAYBE EVEN 8 FEET, WILL IT LOOK OKAY?

AND WILL THIS CAUSE IT TO FILL OUT FULLY MORE QUICKLY BY DOING THIS?

Naturally they grow to be about 10' high by 10' wide (5' each direction), so if they are closer than 5', they will likely grow through the railing. They can be pruned if you wish to limit their size.

They are hardy to zone 5, do best in full sun and are tolerant of hot dry locations.

There are several other varieties of Viburnum that are naturally the size you are proposing.

IN RESPONSE:
If done correctly, pruning it back should not disfigure the shrub any, and may encourage it to be fuller, it's just a bit more work for you. I just mentioned the other varieties to save you the added work of yearly prunings when it gets full grown.

I would move it a bit further away from the deck to give it some room to grow. They grow to be about 6 feet wide and 8-10 feet tall. You can prune them to be smaller but in the picture it looks as though you'll end up pruning it quite often, resulting in an awkwardly shaped plant.
