How to create a casual wardrobe?

I am about to become a stay at home mom that is already out of touch with fashion. I don't need a professional wardrobe and want to make a trendy yet classic wardrobe for myself. My husband also has a casual job (jeans and t's). Are there any suggestions of how many of what type of items we should have for basic wardrobes to keep us looking up to date? What are the "MUST HAVE" items?

go to jCrew or Banana Republic and look at what they have - you don't say how old you are so not sure if that would factor in or not.. you want to be comfy yet functional (to chase the kiddies) get a nice bag too - maybe a messenger style bag... if you want to wear jewelry - pearls always make a sofisticated statement.. wear flats (not sneakers) ballerina's are very 'in' and in winter months can't go wrong w/a nice loafer - so many brands depending on your $$$ try an outlet store like DSW ..just be sure to wear things that flatter your figure and are not too restricting ... NO LONG SWEATERS AND SNEAKERS! look is 'out' and most look frumpy in that!! enjoy staying at home!

Hmm. Sounds like my day wardrobe on the weekends... I have little work out sets, casual sets from Ralph Lauren, JCrew....
Like those Yoga sets... have in like 5 colors.
Classic shorts from banana republic, Jcrew, paired with a polo or cute top... I have Lacoste Shirts in every color.

I love fahion..finally a question!!! Okay well fisrt of all your gunna need a brand new purse to update your style..try a clutch like dooney and burke or kathy van zeeland purses. For tops try some wrap around tops in navy bright purple (plum) or lets see mint green. Now in order to keep up with your wardrobe u need new hair unless ur one of thoose ppl who have to keepur hair the way it is! Try getting bangs ....regular or angled...and highlites with layers is cute...Um....skinny fit jeans are must haves!!!! trust me on that one..anything modern..id try a cropped jacket or some ballet flats..always r in style.!!!!! um cargo pants r okay....try boleros in different colors....hope this helped!!!
