It is meaningless, pointless, and doesn't connect.

I strongly disagree with you. It is a very well crafted movie. The threads of the story are all connected and the connections are very plain to see. And the central theme of the story - how difficult it is for us to communicate when there are language and cultural barriers - is very well done. That being said, I didn't find the story nearly as satisfying as the director's previous two movies (21 Grams, and Amores Perros), but it certainly wasn't a bad or pointless movie.

Couldn't agree more. The movie was awful. If I wanted to watch a pointless story of tragedy, I'd turn on the evening news. And yes, Crash sucked too.

Babel was a mess. I do not see how this film could have gotten nominated except for political correctness.

yea..i dont think it sucked either. The one complaint I have is how much time they spent on the japanese scenario and choosing to end the film with them. i liked the american/moroccan scene when pitt (and wife) got on helicopter and tour guide refused payment..oh, and the opium smokin old lady- you could just feel her gentleness. I really liked how it demonstrated how easily misunderstood we all can be...and percieve as well.

I thought it was a very good film. Very strong stuff. I wouldn't necessarily want to see it again, but I'm glad I watched it.
