This question is something which cannot be answered considering the fact that how old Federer is or how strong his opponents are, i feel some facts will come into picture while answering this question. They are surely mental toughness and physical fitness.
There is no doubt that the Swiss maestro is one of the best ever, if not the THE BEST. So, considering the titles he won in the last 3 and quarter years and able to manage his physical and mental fitness over his opponents is awesome.
Looking all these aspects, i can guarantee that the great Federer will continue to reign the tennis sport for atleast two years. (By then he will smash every record)

He will slow down by age 29 to 30. During these years of Federer, no one will be able 2 defeat him. Only Nadal has the best chances on clay courts, since he grew up playing on clay court. Otherwise, every other men can't match Federer's skill. Federer's game is so all- around, that even the most powerful server, like Roddick, or even a tactical player, like Murray, can break Federer's game in the long shot.

I'd say he'll be able to dominate for another 4 or 5 years. He is only 25 now and the best players are able to be competitive into their 30s.
Federer is actually my favorite to win the French this year, not Nadal. I think Pam Shriver was right at the Australian Open when she said Nadal's game seems to have taken a few steps backward over the past 7-8 months.
The word is out on how to beat him -- keep him pinned far behind the baseline with lots of topspin, and then attack the net.

Barring Injury and level of fitness he should be able to maintain his level of play until age 28, which is generally considered the age when the body begins to succumb to the elements of nature. Players such as Nadal, who have to work extremely hard to win, also take a gruelling toll on their physique. Nalbandian, who is also in the top 10, has been widely criticized for not working out enough off court to reach the next level. Both players have had success against Federer, unlike others, but Federer's skills and training techniques will keep him ahead of the field for several years to come. There is no one who has emerged to challenge his reign and I do not see that happening, barring physical breakdown, anytime soon.

good question!
one thing is for sure, on Monday Feb 26 he will set a new record of 161 weeks being the #1 COHERENTLY (not absolute) in men's tennis (taking over from Jimmy Connors who was it for 160 weeks).
the only one player atm that would be able to push him from the throne is Nadal. his arrears in points in the ATP at present is 3415. but keep in mind that Nadal has to defend his titles of Dubai, Monte Carlo, Rome and the French Open. in these 4 tournaments he can gain not a single point but lose many. the same applies to Federer who has to defend the titles of Indian Wells, Miami, Halle, Wimbledon, Toronto, the US Open, Madrid and Basel.
it is a hard life to be the hunted hare for so long, so it will interesting to see for how long he will be able to keep ahead of the pack. i would say Federer will still be the #1 at this years end.

I have no idea. Hopefully his reign will end very soon. I'm sick of Federer. I'm tired of hearing about him. I'm tired of him winning every damn thing he enters. As a person, he doesn't really bother me. As a tennis player, I can't stand him

Federer is very good, but the truth about anything is there is always someone better. When that person comes--we shall see!
