Competing players always plan and practice for the NBA dunk contest. They're not going to embarrass themselves by not having thinking of something beforehand. There's money, exposure and marketing contracts to be won in the dunk contests.

I think the real issue is lack of imagination, especially this year's. Maybe there should be a larger first place prize, or a one-year marketing contract (a la American Idol). Another idea is to give money to the winner's teammates, so the teammates could provide some imaginative ideas to the competitor.

I believed Howard had the best dunk. Either the judges didn't see the sticker (by the way, there was a Bible scripture on the sticker next to his picture) or waited for a better dunk by another player. It doesn't help that he's 7 foot tall.

It would be the same. At this point, we have already seen all the dunks. The winning dunk this year wasn't even the best dunk that Gerald Green had done that night. Jumping over a regular-sized table? Give me a break. They should have a one-on-one contest. That would be more exciting.

Although they may not admit it, everybody who participates in the dunk contest practices. If you want to make the dunk contest better, you should allow 8 participants and give the winner $2 million. Everybody in the league will wanna be in it.

I don't think that the NBA Dunk really matters to the players because the All-Star game itself is not valued by all of the players that compete in it.
