Beachgirl,
I hate to answer this because usually the person asking a question like this doesn't like the answer, but if you sincerely want to know what a human resource department thinks; here goes....Yes three piercings in an ear is to many. (Depending on the environment, I'm speaking of a professional office setting, not working at a skateboard shop)

I will expect to get "thumbs downed" by everyone with three or more piercings, but, if you really wanted to know what your peers in a professional work setting think...there you go!

For the record, I don't have any problem with tattoos, body piercings, etc, I'm just saying that the vast majority of companies still frown heavily on excessive jewelry. I review a LOT of employee handbooks for a variety of companies and almost every single one of them limits ear jewelry to two pieces per ear. Many companies also limit "dangling" earrings and/or earrings bigger than the size of a nickel.

Hope this helps!!

You will hear many people say 2 holes is too many for a professional environment. You will hear others say that 3 holes per ear is fine. Typically professional attire is understated with clean, classic lines with business suits, skirts, jackets, heels, etc. with minimalist makeup, jewelry and hair.

I personally don't care for what's considered typical. I've worked in a professional environment for 10 years and I've been known to blur the lines. There was one time I dyed my hair fire engine red because I wanted to do something different. Once the initial shock wore off, even my boss liked it. I've done the same along other lines too. I still remain professional but I push the boundaries of what's generally accepted.

So basically what I'm saying in a very roundabout way is that if you want a third piercing in each ear and want to wear earrings in all holes in the office, go for it. If it's something unusual for your office, there may be a day of initial shock, where people will have to get used to it, but very quickly they'll only see the professional side of you again.

In a professional work environment, women should have no more than one earring in each ear no matter what size they are. Men should not have any piercings. I have 3 holes per ear, but i only wear studs in the first hole when i go to work. You do not want to wear too many earrings when you working with someone they will be distracted from your eyes (were they should be looking when they speak to you) and stare at your ears, or any other jewlery that is "inappropriate" for the workplace. Same goes for clothing and hair color and makeup choices. This also makes it so there is a sort of uniformity among coworkers.

Try 3 little diamond earrings, or one bigger pair on the first and then two small pairs. I think that would be really nice actually. I have 3 piercings mysely and one cartilage and agree that less is more. I twouldn't look very classy or professional to have loads of chunky ones in. Plain little gold or silver studs would be cool either.

I would because it is self expression, but I think three in each ear looks bad. You should do two on each ear and than get a third on ONLY ONE EAR when you are older. The symmetry would look weird and two similar. This is my opinion but you can do it if you really want it. That's what I would tell my kid.

If you wear very small earrings, then no. I don't think 2 piercings and a cartiladge piercing is too much if that's what you mean, but 3 in a row, if you wear moderate to big earrings, is too much unless you're a punkrocker or ghetto. That's my opinion....

I don't think so, I work in a professional office and I have 5 in each ear. But you can't really tell as I just keep sleepers in them. As long as you keep the earrings small, I am sure it should be fine.

Depends. If they are small, then maybe not. But if the earrings are big, then yes, it's too much. But, that could be said about only one pair too. ;)

It will depend on your employers stance on it . Some are more laid back. Others will not be so open minded. How conservative is the dress code? If you need to dress consecutive, Then it will be too much.
