I have software that needs to access documents saved to a central location that is not on a C drive. We have a small network where we share our files and folders but the files are stored on the hard drive. Since we don't have an actual server, is there a way to create a network share that is not linked to a hard drive?

if there is unused space on one of the computers you can partition it out and everyone can connect to it as a network drive.

the best way to do what you require is to use another computer as a file and print server and network to it through a router/switch

They do make NAS (Network Attached Storage) devices that attach to a network via LAN to a router. This might work for you. you can find them at most computer stores or try one of these...
