I am 38 weeks pregnant and have these sharp pains in my pelvic area. They sometimes feel like they are right around my cervix. At my last appointment I was a loose 2 cm dialated and very soft and thin. Is it early or pre labor maybe?

It sounds like you're ready to give birth at any moment!! You're way overdue, but you probably know, don't you? Dialation of the cervix at birth is usually around 10 cm. "Very soft and thin" refers to the state of the uterus' bottom portion, which is designed to break open when the babies' head enters the birth canal (which is when the "water breaks" Maybe the pains are contractions, or worst-case scenario, a pelvic/calavarium disproportion for which a Ceasarian section may be indicated. PLEASE see a doctor if you have spotting or any vaginal bleeding or undue pains for any reason.

You can stay dialated like that for a couple more weeks. I am due tomorrow and monday I was 2cm and nothing is happening yet so......you might get lucky

The baby is just getting in position, eventually the pressure will increase and labor will begin, your almost there.

They might be Braxton-Hicks. Just keep an eye on them and time them. If they come regularly at about 5 mins. apart, then call your doctor, because you could be in labor.

It's your body getting ready to have a baby....I'd still call my doctor and ask for an immediate appointment.

that sounds like the baby is dropping, kinda normal from what I know of, but if your too worried about it, call your doctor or midwife.
