Each memory card will just slot into place in the mother board. You can either remove the existing card and replace it with a single 512 or just slot in a second 256 in the adjacent slot. Be careful, if you have a mismatch of sizes, ie. 1 x256 and 1 x 512 it can cause problems, always have the same sizes. dont forget to ground your self before touching the internals as static can kill electronic componants.

first you will need to see how many memory slots you have availbale, if you have available slots then purchase an additional 256 mb module card and plug it in very simple not hard.if you do not have any slots availble then check and ensure your computer is compatible and can handle 512 mb and then purchase a 512 module card remove the existing 256 card and plug in the 512 and youre good to go.. but if you have the slots available i would suggest in going ahead and upgrading to 1 gig 2x 512mb cards. with 1 gig you can actually see a difference . but 256 to 512 isnt really that noticeable. good luck,

Get the specs for your laptop and find out what type of ram you need. Then flip the laptop over and open the cover that the ram goes in to see if you have an extra slot of have to purchase the whole amount. Then go shopping you can try egghead.com, or compusa, or wherever you want. Purchase the correct amount, I would recommend the full 512MB and install it. Your computer should do the rest.

upgrading yopur memory is probally the best upgrade you can do next to upgrading your graphic card
before you buy anything go to http://www.crucial.com/,and run the on-line scanner, this will give you a report of what memory your p.c needs, print this out and take it with you when you buy your memory
you obviously need a 256mb module, but if you can afford it why not go for a 512mb or 1gb module, your p.c will run alot better with more memory but if 256mb is all you can afford that will be fine
when you get your memory, before you open your case, touch a radiator to discharge any static electricity that you may have in your body as this could damage your memory
then open your case and locate your memory banks, these are next to the c.p.u (procesor),find the empty bank and make sure that the white clips either side are opened, then place your memory over the bank(it will only go in one way, dont force it)and gently insert it into the bank until the clips either side lock into place, you dont need to push, just firmly press
then close the case and boot up your p.c,some p.c,s may ask you to press f1 to agree to changes,if so do this
and thats it,you have upgraded your memory,
note: pc-world would charge you £80 to do this upgrade so its worth doing it yourself
any probs let me know
good luck mate
