Oscar has a history of giving this award to a young, attractive, new-comer-- especially if she plays a prostitute. No hooker roles are up for it this year, so it will go most likely go to Jennifer Hudson.

Streep is nominated for Best Actress, not Best Supporting Actress.

Personally, I think that they could give Cate Blanchett an Oscar every year, just for showing up. She's terrific in "Notes on a Scandal," but she's ALWAYS terrific.

I think the Oscar goes either to Blanchett, or to Adriana Barraza, who was wonderful as the Mexican housekeeper stranded out in the desesrt with two little kids in "Babel."

The two young girls -- the Japanese girl from "Babel," and the odd-looking little thing from "Little Miss Sunshine" -- really don't warrant consideration, and I would be TERRIBLY disappointed to see Jennifer Hudson win. She was okay in the dialogue scenes in "Dreamgirls," but puh-leeeeeeze, DON'T give her an award for all of that dreadful EMOTING during the big singing numbers. Yuk.
