many species of animals do exhibit REM sleep. REM sleep -- and the corresponding physiological states -- has been discovered in many animals which have a sophisticated nervous system .this would include virtually every species of mammal and bird -- and some authorities say that REM might be present in fish and reptiles.

my dogs dream all the time. one barks in his sleep so I assume he's dreaming about other dogs cause that;s the only time she really barks, and the other kicks his legs, so I assume he's dreaming about running.
