Because the greedy corporate world embraces the fact that having ADHD is a good thing, in fact they foster and nuture its existence. Anything that requires thought process is deemed "boring" or "gay" [don't you just love how those kids get away with labelling society nowadays???].

The short attention span is what drives the HUGE money with corporate tie-ins in movies, video games, DVD sales, toys, heck even food at restaurant chains.

Of course, these same folks live & die by what Britney & K-Flop have done today.

I hope this doesn't hijack your question, and I fully apologize beforehand if it does, but, my gripe is similar to yours - I'd realized some years ago that the enjoyable, intellectual movie is quite the rare beast anymore, but then I became aware of another change, which shifted my view to the venerable video game. The best-sellers are mindless, requiring the player to do nothing [NOTHING!] more than mow down endless amounts of people for hours on end, be rude or discourteous to everyone else in a game, and some even require acts that would get you locked away for the criminal behavior that it not only encourages, but also rewards.

Where are the inventive, imaginative games? You know, stuff that used to be fun. Killing innocents, committing planned murder, larceny, arson, prostitution, drug use - that doesn't sound like stuff that should be enjoyable to anyone, let alone make it into the hands of impressionable, young, developing minds. Killing zombies is one thing...killing humans is another thing entirely. Sorta goes hand-in-hand with a lot of popular movies nowadays, don'tcha think?

I'm off my soapbox - enjoy your weekend. :)

Because there aren't any intelligent movies that are made anymore. It's a lot cheaper to make slapstick and gross humor movies instead.
