The answerer above is right. I loved Freaks and Geeks back when it was originally on NBC. And even though I loved it, I still had a hard time finding it when they started to move it around. I think they moved it three times with the third being on a Friday night - which was the kiss of death.

That show is one of those mistakes NBC realizes was a mistake to cancel - what with it's DVD sales and cult status. But, of course, by the time they realized it it was too late. And now the pressure to have even bigger ratings is even worse, so all networks are cancelling shows faster than they ever have before.

Unfortunately, it's all about ratings, and it might not have had good enough ratings. The same thing happened to "My So-Called Life." I didn't watch it in its prime, but was addicted to it on The N. It was critically acclaimed and everything, and I remember the main character even won an Emmy or Golden Globe for it. But networks are searching for the next huge hit instead of letting things try to find an audience. You can even say that Fox messed up with "Arrested Development", they kept moving it around instead of putting it somewhere decent in the schedule and keeping it there.

Cheers!

Just like the OC, it had a strong following but the network was just looking for something new. Also when shows get popular so do egos among actors thus leading to the demand of more money draining the show of funds. It was a great show I have to agree.
