This makes no sense to me. Why would the Blue Jackets trade Carter for a fifth round pick. With how many buyers their are in the market right now and with how little available talent their is, they could have gotten a lot more than that. What do you think?

THIS TRADE IS RACIST!!!

lol - i've always wanted to say that.

If i was a GM i would have been willing to give up a fair bit more then a 5th.
i'm really not sure how to justify it, but i guess at least the Jackets got SOMETHING before he left for free agency.
Maybe there is a player they REALLY REALLY want expected to go 5th round?

I was kind of hoping that Vancouver would resign him. He got 33 goals while playing with the Sedins last season. Right now, the Canucks need some more offense. Yes, they could have gotten more for Carter. Carter was dumb for not signing a three year deal he was offered last year.

Current Canucks Leading Scorers for 2006/2007

1. D. Sedin 26 goals
2. M. Naslund 20 goals
3 B. Morrison 17 goals
4 T. Pyatt 16 goals
5. M. Ohlund 10 goals

Anson Carter will disappoint the Hurricanes if he has to play on the top two lines. I don't think he can be counted on as a top six forward, but he will add depth to the team as a third liner. He is a decent goal scorer whose talents are best exploited with a greal playmaker, similar to how he performed with the Sedin twins last season in Vancouver. The Hurricanes got a steal.

Oh yeah, Doug MacLean should be canned! I'm certain he doesn't know what he's doing. He's the same guy who ruined the Florida Panthers!

I totally agree that he could have gotten a lot more for a guy like Anson Carter. Carter is an asset to any team entering a playoff drive. He could possibly be one of the most underrated players in the league.

As a Nets fan, sure there is one, the Nets ought to commerce him to the west. Dallas could be suitable reason they prefer older overpaid gamers. all of the Nets could ask for is expiring contracts. They wanna make a run for Lebron and doubtless Bosh (perhaps) in 2010, plus you have Harris, Lopez, and CDR who all have the flair to play nicely with Lebron and a Bosh. however the Knicks do have MSG, i'm a splash fearful yet who's attentive to. yet Vince ought to get traded, you could not rebuild a crew with a 31 year previous SG that has undesirable knees by means of fact the face of the franchise.

It kind of makes sense to me since Carter isn't producing that well this year. But, yeah, a fifth round is kind of low. If it was up to me, I would've held him until Tuesday to see if I can get a higher pick or a high potential player.

wow the Carolina hurricanes got lucky but i think the blue jackets got a good deal, i think they should have asked for a higher draft pick, tho. But, Carter is going to be a UFA at the end of the season, and the blue jackets would have got nothing for him if he didn't re-sign with them.

I think he would make a great addition (grit)to any team as well as sniper.Just think of the RED WINGS with Carter and Holmstrom parked in front of your goal tender(an un fair advantage)to say the least . I think it was a foolish trade.

I don't know what to think about it. Why is Carter always on the trading block anyway? Does he even unpack?

I don't get the trade, but his name is always out there every year---does anyone have any inside info on why that is?

Stupid Doug McClean needs to be fired, he could have easily gotten a 3rd round pick if he looked for the right team.
