Now I can speak here because I was in the UK, Canada, and Sweden last year and I was also in Mexico the previous year and in 2003 I was in Guyana.

Let me say this first, unless you really left this country the past 4 years and have interact people from other countries (I live in DC, so there are LOTS of visiting foreigners here), you really should not be speaking. I directing this especially to the conservative and neo-con artists who keep on calling this question a liberal slander to Americans.

When I went to those countries, I get many, many questions about why did we vote for Bush again (very common in Canada), why are we so ridiculousIy religious, why do we let big corporations run our lives (this was a very common question in the UK and Sweden). I also got why are we fat and stupid, why do we watch stupid TV shows like American Idol, and why do we only speak one language.

I also been told by other foreigners (especially in Sweden) that they met more Americans than in the past (it seems that Americans are doing more travelling than in the past for them), and most Americans would tell them that they didn't vote for Bush.

I still think people from other countries still respect us, but I also think they are now becoming very weary of our actions and because of that our respect is slowly going down.

I highly agree. The respect for Americans started to fade when George the father Bush was in office. Now, thanks to George W Bush, America is officially the most hated country in the world.

Again it's a popularity contest with you libs. America is not hated around the world. Some do not agree with us. We are the single world power now that communism has fallen and people don't like that. Liberals do not like anyone to be more successful than anyone else. Our media with the exception of Fox News is liberal biased and that's what the rest of the world sees and hears. Thus giving them a bad felling about us. There are plenty who do still respect us. I see even your question is liberal bias, and propaganda. When you make statements like that, and do not have proof to back it up you are not helping America to regain popularity amongst the rest of the world now are you?

I see Americans travelling abroad with back packs and caps showing a Canadian flag to rather pass for Canadians just in case. On the other hand, I have also seen Canadians emphasizing that they are NOT American when questioned in a store in a foreign country because they tend to be confused with Americans....

We lost any hope of having other countries respect us and work with us when he insisted on going to war in Iraq. We had the world at the palm of our hands after 9/11. Now look where we are.
