I'm having the same issue, but to get the birth father to sign over his rights you have to hire a lawyer and go through the court system. They have ways of finding him!

You can't. He is legally obligated to you or to the state for her support and to the taxpayers who are actually supporting her. Even if he relinquished all custody he would still be liable for her support. The only way he can be legally relieved of future support is if someone else adopts your daughter -- thereby assuming responsibility for her support.

If he never saw her, why was he still paying? You may re-marry one day. At that time, your new husband will probably want to adopt her. You might as well save the paper work for a one-time deal.

Explain to him that if he dont want anything to do with his kid then sign it over so that way he wont get stuck in a hole having to pay so much money. I just didnt have my ex give me anything because I dont want him to bother me, but hey you wanna come over and see your daughter then you are more that welcome. Hes never stopped and hes now in PA and were in HI.

You need to get a lawyer to get all this done legally. You may even want to pay HIM to go away and never come back.

offer him the same thing that you obviously know he wants, because thats how you ended up with a daughter in the first place.

you should talk to your lawyer. go to the courts and get help with that. they'll be able to find him and make him take responsibility. i'm sorry to hear that it's come to that for you.

Honestly, it sounds like he would be all for it. Go to your local legal aid office and tell them your story to see what they can do for you.
