I mean what makes an addiction an addiction

An addiction is when you leave work with $1,000 in your pocket on a Friday night, and you get home Saturday morning with barely enough money to fill your gas tank for the next week's drive to work... been there, did that many times...

It can be a "negative" relationship; such that you could not stop enjoying something without incurring SOME kind of adverse effects, or
It can be a fairly "benign" relationship; like if someone says,"I'm addicted to computers."
I find it curious how many people manage to justify their own particular "Jones" while criticizing the desires of others. Like,"I'm ok...but YOU'RE addicted."

When you are out of control. When you can't control your desire for that certain thing and it begins to affect your life in a negative way.
