Check the outlets on the countertop. If they are GFCI's (two buttons in the middle) look for one with the top (usually red) button popped out. If you find that, push the button in untill it "clicks". Try the dishwasher.
If that doesn't do it, look in your breaker box for a "tripped" (handle in the middle) breaker. Turn it "off", then back "on".
If none of the above pan out, and the door latch is closed, I'm out of ideas.

About the only thing you can check is if there is power to the unit, unless you are a technician. Try to cycle the diswasher and see if the power light comes on the unit. If not, you may have tripped a breaker. Check your breaker box for a breaker that looks like the switch is either off, or half off. If you find one, turn it off first, and then back on and see if that solves your problem.
The other option is that the dishwasher was added later, and wired through a GFCI recepticle on your counter. If this is the case, you can try the closest recepticle to the dishwasher and see if it is working. If not, push the little reset button on the GFCI.
Good luck, I hope it is something simple like this. If not, call a serviceman.

Try to start it again and see if you hear it humming. If you can, then the motor is jammed. If you are kind of handy, you can unjam it, but BE CAREFUL! Make sure the power to it is off. Then, remove the bottom metal cover - it should just have 4 screws. You'll probably have to lay on the floor with a flashlight. Look for the motor, it will be metal, clylindrical, and probably dark in color. See if you can find one end with some opening in it and some small fan-like blades inside. If you can get to those, turn them in one direction until they spin fairly easily. At first, they will try to return to their original postion when you try to move them. Once they are freed up, put everything back together and fire it up!

First thing check that door, Did you drop a fork or spoon in there and its not closing tightly!!!!!!!
Its for sure some kind of a circuit problem. First thing id suspect is that DOOR SAFETY switch. That thing if not tripped wont let you start the dishwasher. You will see a prong that runs into that safety switch. see it that thing is entering properly and tripping the switch. My guess its that door safety switch Make sure that door is closed tightly and if not adjust that latch so it will.
