It squeaks when I drive it but the sound comes and goes. I've taken it to two mechanics and of course it wasn't making the noise and they said all looked okay. I just went to my Jeep dealership and they can't see me till next week.

Basically, it squeaks when I go straight and also when I turn. Sounds to me like it needs to be greased. What are some common problems that this could be?

If this is from the steering wheel then I wouldn't worry about it

Sometimes in cold weather the bushings of the suspension will get dry and squeak. you can get undere there and wash the heck out of the 4 wheels and suspension and see if that helps. This will at least let you know what is squeaking.

It could also be the fan belt, this too comes and goes in weather changes.

Ok Ashley, the battery is dead, and the battery is dead because one of two things happened. 1 the alternator went out, and the alternator charges the battery..2 the belt that turns the alternator is out..But ide be willing to say that the alternator is bad because of the flickering you say was happening. You can check your alternator several ways though so listen up. First have him check the belt, if its loose it may not be spinning the alternator fast enough to provide the 12-16 volts it requires to keep the battery charged, and if the belts loose, tighten it. If it has what they call a ''serpentine belt'' have him check whats called the ''idler pulley'' its a spring loaded pulley that keeps tension on the belt at all times, and if the spring is broke it wont keep the belt tight enough, plus your vehicle will overheat because the serpentine belt also turns the water pump, so check the belt and obvious things first, and also be sure that the battery connections are good ok? Next, the most easy ''at home '' test to do to see if your alternator is out is too charge the battery up, get the car started then remove either of the battery cables, if the car dies you know your alternator is out, if it continues running, then the alternator is probably good. You can also remove the alternator and take it to an auto parts store and have them check the alternator, and they will tell you if its putting out the proper voltage which is somewhere between 14-16 volts ok babe. But like i said, have your boyfriend check the obvious things first, like the battery connections, and the belt. Now be honest with me, does he have one of those super high powered stereos in the car? They can wreak havoc on automotive electrical systems...Good luck babe........Tim

Interior squeaks can be loose screws and parts that need to be greased/lubricated. Exterior ones usually are grease/lubrication issues. Sometimes they are cause by faulty gaskets/seals. Depending on the age of your jeep, it could be a bushing that is causing the problem.

Is it in the front or rear? alot of times when your front brake pads are getting too close to the warning tab the squeak will come and go. alot of times during a turn. so check the front brake pads. especially if the squeak starts happening more frequently

Your serpintine belt needs replaced...or you can just put dawn dish soap on the inside of it to lubricate it.
