This is a question not framed in a hostile way.
I dont have a problem with Gay marraige,In fact I propose that Gay scociety should create a ceremony of thier own, and it should be recognized by States and Federal Laws applicable to any Legal marraige
I do have a problem with bringing God and churches into the fabric of the ceremony.Especially when the Institution of Marraige reguarded ,and set forth by God, clearly is an abomination to Him.
Help me understand, in a non-hostile way, how the gay society can not understand the non gay publics views on this?

I don't think for 1 minute that it is an abomination of Him. That is where we differ. I find it very hard to believe in a god that considers me to be an abomination when he/she made me. I didn't choose to be gay...But I can choose whether to lead a good gay life or a 'bad' gay life.

hey, bub. God did not set forth and state some thing about marriage. See proper the following: The idea of marriage as a sacrament and not at all only a settlement will be traced St. Paul who compared the relationship of a husband and spouse to that of Christ and his church (Eph. v, 23-32). Marriage as all of us comprehend it really is a modern-day journey. It became in historic circumstances that the idea of a settlement became divised in order to affix 2 or extra tribes or households. It became strictly a settlement between the households and not at all between both in touch. lots of the time it became an association made by the fathers or tribal leaders and those in touch did no longer have some thing to say about it. There are nevertheless prepared marriages at found in some cultures. Marriage at present is a CIVIL count number. A decide or magistrate can carry out this CIVIL act. The church don't have some thing to do with the criminal area of a union. it really is exactly for tutor...... i'd turn your very last question round and ask you why you could't comprehend the gay view and the right for 2 human beings to enter right into a criminal, CIVIL union and, if the church THEY attend favor, they could then have a non-binding ceremony. A so-observed as church wedding ceremony isn't some more thing suitable than a CIVIL union with meaningless frills.

1. Your Church does not marry you, they perform a ceremony. Without the License sold by the State your marriage has no legal benefits tied to it whatsoever. So long as someone legally recognized by the State signs the Marriage License, as far as the State is concerned, you are married. Any ceremony and religious trappings tied to it are completely superfluous.
2. Contrary to popular belief, the church did not start marriage nor do they hold any sort of copyright on the word or term. Marriage has been found in civilizations for thousands of years, throughout the world, in many places that existed before and alongside of Christianity.
3. There are legitimate denominations which have no problem with performing a same-sex marriage. Your personal interpretation that homosexuality is an abomination is no more or less true than the interpretations that do not believe that way. You have no right to dictate to others what that can or cannot say or believe when it comes to their ceremonies and beliefs.
4. Weddings that are performed in Las Vegas and the same-sex marriages that have been performed in Massachusetts are every bit as legal and legitimate as your own, as are those marriages performed by Shinto Priests, Wiccan High-Priests, and Jewish Rabbis.
5. Up to date, as far as I know, there are no legal plans to attempt to force any Church or Denomination to perform any ceremony which they feel is counter to the doctrine of their belief.

What it boils down to is this. Religion is a choice. Your interpretation is not the only interpretation of your Bible out there. No interpretation is "more correct" than the other. You do not "own" the word "marriage". "We" have ever bit as much right to be married and have that marriage legally recognized as you do. To form some union, even with the exact same rights, privileges, and obligations, and use a name for it other than Marriage is setting a standard for legal segregation which is Unconstitutional.

I have to commend you for this question. I disagree with your opinion because I do not feel that gay marriage is an abomination to God. He created gay people, and I'm sure that he wouldn't mind being included in any ceremony based on religion, even if it is modernized and diluted from its roots. I personally feel that the bible was misinterpreted anyway, because I'm pretty sure that it never blatantly says that homosexuality is wrong, but that's just me. The reason that I wanted to commend you for your question was that I respect you. You are the first person here who I have seen use any logic in asking this question. Most people say things like, "Gay marriage is wrong, because God said it is, and all of the gays deserve to die. Don't you agree?" But you didn't. You recognized that gay people are people, who have opinions, and you weren't trying to force your opinions on them with your question. You were instead trying to inform them of your views and learn theirs as well, and for that I thank you. I also hope that I was able to answer your question as you requested, in a non-hostile way.

If being gay is such an abomination to God, then why did he create us? We can understand their views, its the non gay that can't understand ours. Our big issue is about love and having the same rights as heteros. Things like filing married on income tax, the right to be covered under their partners insurance. People dont look at us like two people in love, they look at it being 2 women or 2 men. You cant help who you love.
I have a question for you. Honestly, what is the first thing that pops into your mind when you hear the word gay?
My guess is, your mind goes right to our bedrooms? Am I right?

Well, first to say that is the 'non gays publics veiw' is inaccurate. The priest who performed my same-sex wedding was straight and certainly didn't have the same veiw you espouse. Second, the marriage rights that are being fought for are not religious, they're civil. Churches have always been and will always be free to decide and who to marry. The claim that if gays can marry they can sue churches to force them to perform these ceremonies is unfounded and patently untrue. It is the same agruement that segregationists claimed when interracial marriages were still illegal. It's just as false now as it was then and is only used as a scare tactic to presuade people who are genuinely concerned about the autonomy of their church, and those who want a 'reasonable' excuse to oppose gay marriage rather than just admit that they're bigoted. Not every falls for it, just ask a clergyman who decides what couples to marry.

It sounds like the American thing to do. Have all unions between any couple recognized by all of the states. Allow licensed individuals, ministers and such, to perform these unions at will and provide a JOP who performs these unions upon request without restrictions or regard for gender of the participants. It all sounds so simple what is the hold up with this? Lets get you elected somewhere to put forward this as a bill in your local legislature.

Well, too bad. It does sound hostile. God does NOT find homosexuality abhorrent. God must be allowed in this union as there is nothing wrong with it. God never said anything that sounds evem remotely like that.

What God does say is that everyone should be created equal. Whatever happened to "Love thy neighbor as thyself"?

Homosexuals do understand heterosexual views. I am straight, and I see the homosexual view and agree with it. I have a problem with people who ASSUME that homosexuality is wrong and don't even read the Bible. Nothing in the Bible says that homosexuality is wrong.

If God did not want gays, he would not have made them. There is a lot of controversial stuff in the book of Leviticus that most people do not believe in anymore, an example being when God says not to eat pork. Very few people follow this. God also says not to have sex before you're married. Very few people follow this. I hope you are catching on to my point. The Bible says that God loves all of his children, and you should think of that as well. It's all how you interpret things.

It seems to me that each religion has a God that loves people, but only under certain conditions. Those conditions being the doctrine of the religion.

What I found when I had a near death experience was entirely different. I found a God that loves unconditionally all his children. He/She/It loves you no matter what religion you belong to, or beliefs you hold. I found God had no religion at all. It makes a lot of sense, in fact it's the only thing that makes sense in learning about spirituality.

I suggest we all try to improve our own understanding of God before we judge the beliefs of others. Remember, "judge not."

I am not gay, nor Christian, just trying to love my neighbor as best I can.
