NO SIR. Troy Smith proved all season he was a big game QB except for the last game. he still would have won the Heisman trophy. His margin of victory for winning the Heisman was just too much to lose over 1 game. Plus he led his team to a undefeated season and beat #2 Texas in Austin and beat #2 Michigan. He deserved the heisman. I also dont understand why people think Smith had a bad game. if you watched the Florida game it was clearly the Offensive lines fault.....they allowed too many sacks and gave no time for plays to develop. AND another reason why is because at the end of the Regular season the top 3 candidates were Smith, Quinn, and McFadden. after the bowl games (1 freakin game) how the heck can Russell or leak or anybody else Take over 1st place? ill answer that! YOU CANT

Then the top 3 would have been JaMarcus Russel, Chris Leak, and Troy Smith. Like it's been stated, it's nothing but a popularity contest. Besides, winning the Heisman doesn't guarantee success in the NFL.
Cheers!

A message to all you Brady Quinn fans, He didn't win the Heisman, Get Over it! Another Message to them, He lost the bowl game and the number one spot in the draft to JaMarcus Russell. Troy Smith won the Heisman hands down

I think that the voting should happen after the championship game...
BUT! If you do that then you might as well give the trophy to the game's MVP. Look at last year, Darren McFadden from Arkansas was a nominee for the trophy. If the voting was after the championship game, then what would he have gained from it?
I think that the performances from the bowl week are definitely applicable. Look at the previous busts from heisman to loser.
Jason White, Oklahoma
Troy Smith, Ohio State
just to name two.

Yes, I think it would. And Smith did not deserve it to begin with. Some of those victories during the regular season were as much luck as skill. Illinois scared them pretty good. Michigan almost beat them at home. Even Cincinnati scared them until they just ran the Bearcats out of breathe.
I think Smith getting the Heisman was political and it was sympathy because the voters knew he'd never be able to match up against an SEC team.

definitely not russell... one game does not a season make. however, i think that no contenders were great, so smith still probably would have won, but ray rice would have had a great case as well (he was great all year and rushed for over 200 yards against K-State in the bowl game)

Well clearly Quinn wouldn't have been on the list anymore. Smith may have been around though. Besides it is a popularity contest, not about who is really the best.

this year it wouldn't have mattered, because troy smith's numbers were just too good to ignore...and brady quinn wasn't even in the same league as smith
