I have a 30 gallon with 2 false percula clowns. I want another couple of different, colorful fish. Could I cheat and get a blue hippo tang? I really want one. What would be some good fish I could cheat on size with? Gimme some good idea... Thanks

How old is your tank? if it is less than 6 months, nothing. If it a mature tank, I'd go for the blue tang!

Another beautiful fish that would look real cool is a Hawaiian Trigger. If you get him small enough he won't chase your clowns around.

A carpet anemoe or a pink tipped Haitian would be a neat addition. A black *****r trigger would also be cool. A yellow and blue butterfly.

I would stay away from the eels, hogfish, lions and puffers. Your clowns would quickly become a snack.

P.S. Changing water does NOT rid the tank of ich. It is always present in the water. A UV Steralizer is the only way to rid your tank of the free swimming form of ich.

when i first started my marine fish tank i had just 2 percula clowns(the real ones) and nothing else but i wanted to have atleast one blue hippo tang but i could never find one cheap enough or small enough but i heard that liveaquaria.com sold tiny ones for like 29.99 so i tried them out well i figured it would be around an inch long well let me tell you it was about 1/2 inch the smallest one ive ever seen but now its around 4" and 2 years old from the day i got it i feed her a blend of veggies shrimp and scallops(home made marine mash) and its doing great besides the fact that it eats everything i give it. it also keeps the hair algae in the tank too a minimum.before i ad them to my 55 gallon i also added a orchard dottyback back i had them all in my 20 gallon for about 1 year so i would try to fine a tiny blue hippo but do note that they are prone to getting ick and youll have to do many water changes to ensure the best health. but anyways good luck!!!

you have to decide between a peaceful fishes, aggressive fishes and reef safe fishes. since you have Percula Clown fish
(Amphiprion percula), i would stick to peaceful fishes or reef safe fishes. if you put any aggressive fishes, they will eat your other fishes.
blue hippo tang is peaceful fish, so it would be ok. but it will reach 4 to 5 inches. for a 30 gallons you can only have 1 of this fish because you already have 2 clowns.
Mandarin Gobby (Green Mandarinfish) is a beautiful fish but you need at lease 75 gallons with lots of live rock to grow enough small crustacean to keep it alive. these fishes don't usually eat any other foods. go to the link below and look at those fishes for ideas.

I would say that your tank is too small for a blue hippo tang.
How long has your tank been set up, You can get a male and female Mandarin, green or spotted if your tank has been going for at least 6 months and if you have lots of live rock.
You can check out pics at www.liveaquaria.com.

Check out some damsel fish. They have the same temperment and are good hearty fish. The tang in my opinion would be too big for your tank. Check out the different kinds on www.saltwaterfish.com

i would say you only have room for one or two more small fish.. dont push it or your tank can crash. tangs should only be in 75 gal tanks or higher. you can get a flame angel fish, there on the smaller side and very pretty. I like the goby and blennies, many diffrent colors and have great personalitys.
