Why? Because you installed Norton Anti-Virus. Did you know that Symantec (the company that makes Norton) was sued because a version of their software was impossible to remove without destroying a computer's system registry? That ruins the computer.
Uninstall Norton.
Go to www.avast.com.
Download and install the free home edition.
Do a boot time scan when it prompts you to.
Problem solved.

Do an online virus scan to check if you still have any other viruses in your computer. And let us know if the online virus scan still finds any virus or spyware .

The first poster is correct. Ditch Norton and download Avast. Then have Avast run a boot scan. That way it scans your system before Windows starts and before the virus mounts its defenses (yes viruses WILL defend themselves).

b/c you're still downloading stuff off the internet,
Norton only catches it once it's on your computer. Norton does not make the virus not be downloadable.

Do you understand that an AntiVirus program is only for Virus protection. It is not for Trojans, Spyware, adware and other infections. This is why you need AntiSpyware programs also.
Reading this site will give you a good basic education about Malware and how best to protect your computer.

If you had it before you installed Norton's, you must do a complete system scan and see if the program finds it and can eliminate it. Just installing the program doesn't do anything.
