In the Lord of the Rings dvds, the extended copies have a ton more added and extended scenes as well as many more behind the scenes features. If you are a fan of the movies I highly recommend you pick these up.

First of all, in each edition, there are two whole DVDs devoted to behind the scenes featurettes. As for the movies themselves, FotR has about 20 extra minutes of movie, TT has about 30 minutes and RofK has about 45-50 extra minutes of movie. All of my favorite scenes in each movie are from the extended scenes.

Quite a bit, maybe thirty minutes in each part. It really helps to flush out the stories and makes some of the best movies even better.
