If you really want to get pregnant, you should start taking prenatals right away. Also, make sure you are eating a balanced diet and avoid alcohol and smoking. Basically, treat your body like you are already pregnant. Sometimes the baby doesn't develop due to decreased potassium or folic acid levels. Both of those are included in prenatals. Something that most women don't know is that 1/3 of all pregnancies end in miscarriage. The reported number is much less because most of the time the woman does not even know she was pregnant. After I lost my first baby I was very unsure about finding out right away. I didn't want to go through that devastation again. I think I waited until I was 3 or 4 weeks late to take the test. I was still taking my vitamins and whatnot, but I was too scared to take that test. Now my son is 9 days old, and I am so glad I listened to my doctor about staying on all my vitamins and everything. Plus, with breastfeeding you have to continue to take them, so you'd better get used to them now!

Unfortunately, unless the doctor knows that a specific defiency caused the blighted ovum, no pills will help you conceive and not miscarry. If there was, everyone would be on them! Pre-natal vitamins, while a good idea, will not increase your chances of carrying to term, but they will decrease the risk of certain birth defects and ante natal conditions like anemia.
Take comfort in this: 2-4 weeks old fetuses have a 40-60% chance not making it. It's not anyone's fault, try to relax.
I know you're worried, but just think of it this way: there isn't much you can or can't do in this case. Just take good care of yourself (eat right and exercise) and try not to stress.

I have miscarried before. (It just stopped growing after about 6 weeks). My mother told me to stop freaking out when I get pregnant and trying to do everything by the book. She said that doctors have you so scared you are going to mess something up that women can't just have babies anymore. The stress of doing the right thing ended up being the problem for me. It "shocked" my system and I miscarried. I am currently 2 months pregnant and all is going well so far. I am just taking this one a bit more laid back and not fretting about my intake so much. As far as miscarring goes, please don't let it get you down. It will happen when the man upstairs says it will. I chalk my miscarriage up to "the man" just saved me from raising a three eyed, one legged baby. Just wasn't the right time. Best of luck to you and have faith!

I'm so sorry for you loss. I know it must be pretty rough for you. I would take some vitamins and maybe some prenatal vitamins at the same time. Like one a day for women and prenatal pills. Wait atleast a month or two so your body gets the nutrients and vitamins it needs to regain its health. Goodluck and i hope everything works out

I have not been through this and I am sorry that you have to deal with this. However, if your Doctor says everything is ok, I would trust him or her. Other than that, there should be support groups in your area or even on-line support groups of people who understand what your are going through. Good luck and I am sending you good luck baby wishes. Take care.

You can take pre natal pills to help. Or any type of vit for that matter.Do you smoke? Drink? or take any type of Drug (over the counter or street drug) Any of these can prevent your body from keeping a baby.

prenatal vitamins and folic acid, the doctor will offer you a shot that can prevent pregnancies, but i wouldnt take it, so many people have had complications later in life if their mom had the shot when she was pregnant.
