Ive read about them but still unsure about the proper procedure and whether or not one can do them solely on their own or if you must get them done through a doctor. Thank you so much for any help with this!

Effective... maybe maybe not.
Wise... no.

You do not need a doctor for an enema. You can do them at home. It is easier with help but as long as you can reach the area you can do it yourself.

Basically what you would be attempting to do is speed up the digestive process so the food does not spend as much time in the system and have less time to supply the body with nurishment. This is not much different than taking laxatives for the same reason or even forcing yourself to throw up.

If you want to loss weight there are healhy ways to do this that are not that hard. Take some time to do some reading on healthy diets. If you have the money things like Nutrisystems can work well (something I'm doing right now and I have had problems finding something that would work for me).

As I have recently learned for myself... Diet alone DOES NOT WORK. You need to exercise. This does not have to be drastic exercise and can be done as an activity that you like to do.
Also, exersize alone DOES NOT WORK. You have to have both components in control to see results. Good results are typeically just 2 to 3 lbs a week but for most people that is fine over the course of 1 year and then it is just learning to maintain.

Getting back to diet, if you don't have the money for an organized program then at least lookup information on the system used by the program. Again because it is the program I am following, I have found web sites that talk about the Glycemic Index used by Nutrisystems, mix that information with some simple portion control and you can easily come up with a diet that you can live with on your own. Also make sure you are drinking 8 8oz glasses of water a day.

But for your own well being please consider a more healthy way of loosing weight.

Best of Luck

Using enemas for any other reason then to clear an impaction is unsafe. For one, there is a nerve somewhere in your rectum that can kill you if pressed on too hard. For two, you might loose weight this way, but you won't be losing it safely. You'll risk dehydration among many other things, and chances are that you'll be loosing mainly water which you'll gain back very quickly.

You may lose some weight if you are discharging intestinal plaque, but you do not have enemas in order to lose weight. It's old news, but the best way to lose weight is still to eat well and exercise regularly. There's no magic formula.

They are painless and easy except if you are mentally challenged. You lose the weight of excess waste you are carrying around. 70 years ago they were very common. See site below for more info. It is much, much harder to use a computer than to take an enema.

I have never had one and never plan on it-I was scared to death I was going to have to have one when I went into labor, but I didn't. I think that is an older procedure. Anyway--WHY would you want to do that? Gross..I don't see how it could help you lose any more weight than what is in your colon at the time and I would imagine it to be quite uncomfortable...

no you wont lose weight with one cos they are inserted up your bum and irritate the hell out of your bum hole like burning pain that makes you poo quick!!trouble is with your theory...the food has already passed thru your stomach and blood stream so all the caloried have been taken into your body the poo is the waste from that food.too late to stop anything gaining weight on you by then, thats why young girls eat and vomit to stop the digestion(but the acid in the sick rots your teeth...dont try it!!)you need to eat less and exercise more to lose weight
