I would ELABORATE reasons in their favour for letting you do something. For instance...staying out later, you could pile it on how they would benefit in having some peace and quiet for longer....things like that.

Ashley so far I can think you need to know first what situation would be? For instance, you are intelligent A+, honor student, second you are a good child of your parents mean good listener, respectful, not like a spoiled kid. If I’m a honor student even not honor I’m a excellent student and I always take care of my parents, I’m responsible then I think it won’t be any problem to convince them to borrow the car, stay out etc. but yes I have to assure first that I’m responsible. Like, if your parents know that you are irresponsible, you are not interested in study. You hang around with bad people, them for sure you won’t be able to convince them.

Did I make enough clear to understand? Does it help to start at least first paragraph? I know it’s always I stuck how to start. Once I get idea then I easily can go on. Let me know if you need more detail. Good Luck.

In your paragraph - put all of your reasons to the extreme - talk about all of the positive things about what will happen if your parents agree to what you want.
Don't talk about the negative point.

For example - if you are trying to persuade them to let you get a part time job you could say things such as "It will be abosolutely fantastic because i will be owning my own money which mean you wont have to give me any pocket money anymore, so really it's good for you because you don't have to pay out for me anymore!"
This is using elaboration because the parents are going to have to pay out for you again ofr things such as clothes etc. - it is elaborating the situation as it makes it sound as if they will never have to give you any money again.

Hope this give you a better understanding :)

Alright:
A topic sentence i would choose for something like this is probably
Dear Mom & Dad,
I have recently become aware of a lack of money in my life, and i think it would be a good idea if i could get a part-time job. Then REALLY GO INTO DETAIL explaining WHY saying you have the qualifications for this sort of mature experience, and really try to show them your point of view. you need to be as convincing as possible and really explain why you think you deserve this. (Hint: it helps sometimes for people to choose things that are real, like if there IS a concert you want to go to, write about that! it helps it be a little less abstract. plus, when you're done, you can give the letter to mom/dad and maybe have them let you go, too!)
Hope this helps,
Nef

elaborate simply means to explain..or give more details.........detailed explaination....

so just write a paragraph that explains why....cant just say because i want to go to the concert or whatever.....you have to use more reasons to make your point
