or do i have to be reffered through my doctor?

hi hoping you can help. last week i found out i was pregnant and i'm nearly 6 weeks. on sunday night i experienced agonising pain in my right side for 3 hours. i rang up an emergancy doc and by the time they rang back it had gone so they said to ring them again if it came back thankfully it hasn't but my symptoms have vanished completly after only having them for about 4 days. i am so worried that something happened sunday and thus why my symptoms have fanished.

i would go for a private scan but can't afford it and iu have a docs appointment on monday but if i rang up the epu would they book me in for a scan before then or will i have to wait for the doctors appointment and let him refer me to have one?

thanks for any advice

When i had problems with my pregnancy (i miscarried) i went to A and E and was sent to the early prehnancy unit and was told i had to wait for a scan. The scans only took place monday to friday during day time. They did an internal and took blood but that was all they could do. I went back again when i had clots and pain and i still had to wait. It may be different where you are and they may do one for you. But you will probaby be told till wait till monday and they will the refer you.

Try not to worry as you still early so you probably did not have many signs. Plus loosing them is not always a sign something is bad. What ever you deside to do go hospital if you start to get worse. Good Luck

The doctor may well refer you straight to the antenatal anyway for a scan to check that all is well. I wouldnt worry, its common practice nowadays to check the well being of both mother and baby. At least if you need a scan they will put your mind at ease.

You need to see your doctor, he/she will refer you for an early scan, unfortunately you can't ring up for a scan until they have a referral from your GP.

Go to your midwife and she will refer you. You may have to have an internal scan being so early. Good Luck.

I think that if you are this concerned, you should go to A&E and tell them what happened. They should send you straight to the maternity department where they will give an ultrasound, but this early, it would have to an internal one...sorry!

I hope that everything is okay for you and your baby!

see your gp or midwife asap and tell them of your concerns and it may well be that they will send you for a scan to check that all is ok with baby. Good luck
