ok, i'm a biochem major, so i better get this right!
1. B) ionic - we are combining a metal and a non-metal.
2. C) K(2)O - Potassium - K+, Oxygen - O 2- --> K2O
3. A) atoms are conserved - b/c we balance with respect to atoms not molecules, and co-efficients aren't equal, also if we balance we're assuming that energy is conserved in the conversion.
4. D) many
5. D) synthesis reaction - (production)
6. A) Absorbed - heat is a reactant, it is added for reaction to proceed. exothermic - heat is released as a product...

You need to check the periodic table, see link below.

Q1 B, it is Ionic. The Be has 2 electrons in it's outer shell, and these slot into the final shell of the iodine to complete the shell. There will be one Be and 2 Iodine atoms in each molecule.

Q2 C. it is K(2)O. The symbol for Potassium is K, and it has one electron in it's outer shell. The oxygen has two vacant spaces in its outer shell, so 2 K atoms join with 1 oxygen.

Q3 A, Atoms are conserved, if that means that there are the same number of atoms on each side of the equation. So in above cases 2K + O = k(2)O and Be + 2i = Bei(2) [yes, I used a small i to avoid confusing with number one in this font]. There are 3 atoms on each side of the equation.

Q4 D, Poly means many. Think polygon, many sides.

Q5. D. A synthesis reaction is a reaction in which two or more substances combine to produce a single, more complex substance. I had to look this up, its a name I have never used before!

Q6. A, absorbed. In Chemistry an endothermic reaction is one in which the reactants have less energy than the products, and thus a net input of energy, usually in the form of heat, is required. In simple terms, you have to heat it up to make it go, and you don't get any fireworks from it!

It probably took you longer to type the questions than what it would have taken to look up the answers on WIKIPEDIA, see second link below.

1. b - poly means more than one, mono means one. 5. false - carbon can't have a quadruple bond to another copper because then it can't combine with anything else. Those are the only two i know for sure but u should go on google yourself and search for the answers. They can't be that hard to find and if u forgot your book you should take initiative to get your homework done from other sources.
