Hi all!
I need your cleaning expertise. I have a set of cookie sheets that were once non-stick, but after a few years of use have become brown and gross looking. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? Or should I just replace them when they get discolored? I'm pretty sure the ones I have now are beyond repair :)

Thanks for your input!

I have had several Baker's Secret pans that have become discolored over time. Once they do become brown there is nothing I've found to remove it. That being said, I took a baking class at the culinary academy and learned that lining the pans with either Silpat or parchment paper prevents this from happening. Unfortunately, I also learned by experience that the inexpensive pans you buy at the discounters are different dimensions than the silpat. So, either buy the pans where they also sell silpat or buy the discount pans and use parchment. My el cheapo pans lined with parchment have lasted 9 years so far.

You can do what I do. Use the discolored cookie sheets and muffin pans for candle holders. And buy an iron muffin pan and silicone cookie sheets. They have silicone baking sheets now! Those other stained kitchen wear make great multi candle holders !

I use foil when I can... also try out those baking pads for cookies. This helps for a while, but no matter how you try to protect them, they eventually get so discolored and you have to get new ones.

Hard to believe, but you want them to get brown. This helps the cookies to brown better, not that I know why. however, When non stick pans start to peel up you should toss them, as teflon is not a good thing to eat.

Just replace them, or get the kind without the raised edges. Those don't discolor.

i am not sure if you can fix the ones you have but when you get new ones, use aluminum foil or wax paper when baking to keep stuff from sticking to it and so you don't have to use cooking spray and stuff that will burn onto the pan each time you use them. or buy pampered chef stones, they don't discolor and cook evenly.
