I own an EVO 8 and this is what I've been saying since day 1.

1) You won't get any better handling car outside of spending at least $80k for a Porsche

2) The only car that can beat it from 0-60 for under $50k. The STI and the higher end Mustangs (forget the model name)

3) Performance wise, only the EVO and STI gives you a full package of speed and handling for a good price.

Cons - forget the luxury, forget the comfortable ride, it don't exist in an EVO. EVO's are all about the performance.

Sure, people will argue "get a M3. way better!" but they don't ever say the truth "get a M3, $30,000 more expensive too!"

Going with and EVO or STI you cant loose. Ya insurance is high on the EVO and it does need a new clutch and tires come 10k. But it is a great car. I would test dirve the EVO and the STi b4 i went out and bought one.

I had the evo first and traded it for the STI. Evo had a few mods on it but i was doing all the work myself. It was harder to work on the evo then it is the STI. The way the STI engion is built makes the turbo, headers, exhaust, intake, intercooler, blow off valve etc all right there in front of you easily assessable.

Evo however has better handeling stock then the STI. Just things to consider when buying. If you plan on working or tuning the car then I would say get the STI. If you are going for stock car not doing anything to it then you cant loose with eighter one. The Sti is faster on the strip but the EVO is faster on the turns. Its up to you.

I own a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII and no car that I can think of can come close to it. The Evo is like no other car and is very sporty for a sedan. I still think of it as a compact car 2 door as you can tell no difference by the amazing power, quickness, and 5-star handling that it has. My car is always stared at by pedestrians and drivers that admire my ride. The 2006 Evo is a must see and buy as you can feel the power. It will be the best car in your lifetime, trust me........

The only con is resale value, the lose value quickly. Pros, for $1000 in mosd it will run a lambo on the track. The stock FQ-400 fom oveseas will run just about any supecar. Viper, Corvete, mustangs are a light snack LOL There uis only a select few supercars that can run it on a REAL track. Veyron, Zonda, Enzo Ferrari are a few cars that can run a fq-400. But all of those cost over .25mil.
Handling, feaul economy, speed, acceleation, and tec are all strong points for the evo. I have 740hp on mine with 10k miles on the engine and it runs smooth as silk ; )

Interior is not luxery for low weight, lots of road noise in the cabin when driving hard.

I am not a very big fan of the Evo. As much as technology has improved over the years, I prefer the SMG/DSG transmission design than the usualy clutch. Although, as it has been stated by the above posters, the Evo has all the knicknacks it's still a theft-friendly vehicle and an insurance magnet. The evo is currently rated as the NUMBER ONE as the highest insured automobile, you're paying premium + an arm and a leg. If you can afford the Evo and everything else that goes with it, by all means buy it.

For 30k+, you can opt to get a used and tuned 500hp M3 with an SMG orr an older audi TT/S4/A4 with 500hp with DSG and Quattro. With performance handling to boot.

In my opinion, in terms of looks and power, European is far superior to Japanese. And plus, women will go "ooh & aah" when you say BMW than saying Evo. Both equally will sap you of your money in replacement parts and maintenance.

An Evo is far superior car than any other in the mid 35k in any way you can see it. Now, sure an M3 is nice and somewhat luxurious but it will cost you far more than an Evo and plus maintenance on a M3 costs more than an Evo. If I were you I would wait for the Evo X. Don't listen to those fools to tell you to buy an M3.

Well first of all, it is the Fastest Best handling SEDAN on the Market. With 1/4 Mile times in the low 13 second range, 0-60 4-5 second range. All wheel drive, and its dont count as a sports car on your insurance. Look it up on the Net...

Buy a 2-3 year old BMW Audi or Acura, they are beautiful and a lot cheaper than an old 2006 car
