It would be wise to put your resume on Jobs.com, CareerBuilders.com, Monster.com, etc. It would also be a good idea to sign up with temporary agencies, as some have temp to hire jobs.

Hi, I'm in HR. I'm sorry to say but a college degree is like a high school diploma used to be, it's the most basic requirement for most jobs, these days. Unfortunately it's going to be in the restaurant business or retail that you can find work. If that turns you off, I suggest some night classes in something else, or perhaps some vocational training, were you could work on computers or mechanics. Without college most business careers and office jobs won't be open to you, so you'd be looking at customer service fields.

That's about all you can do with a GED. I suggest going to a local community college and getting your associate's degree (2 years) in something that interests you. It's 2 years instead of four, and you don't have to move away, and can schedule classes around an existing work schedule.

I've got 2 BA's and can't find a real job, so ditto to whoever said a Batchelor's is becoming the same as a HS diploma.

Find a smaller company that looks for people who hustle. I have a HS diploma and will make a 6 figure salary this year as a Client Service Director for an Event Company. You can make your bones in a creative industry without college. Just produce and you'll be paid. Also, read a lot. Management books, business philosophies, etc. You can do it, if you want to. College is just a tool, so is experience.

I believe you can find a position with the federal government and work your way up the ranks. For instance, you may be able to start out as some type of clerk, but through the years you will gain enough knowledge and experience to where you can move up. Go on usajobs.com and look for positions around the GS-4 or GS-5 level.

Everyone is going to boo me, but I work at a smaller Wal-Mart store, and I absolutely love my job. There is great growth potential with Wal-Mart, and awesome benefits: i.e. I needed to get a hotel room in downtown Chicago and couldn't find one in my budget. My Wal-Mart/Holiday Inn discount offered me a room at $135 whereas everywhere else downtown was over $210 a night. Wal-Mart is also helping me pay for my education.
You are eligible for a transfer after 6 months, which means that if you want to move you are almost guaranteed a job ANYWHERE. You can't beat that. The employees at my store are awesome...mostly college kids..and we all hang out one night a week at the local bar. For me, going to work is FUN for the first time in my life.
I know that people bash Wal-Mart as a corporation. Unfortunately, since we are so big, there are bound to be bad apples. However, Wal-Mart drug tests, so if that's a concern don't waste your time.

Good luck!

I really don't know who would want to hire you with or without a college education or a high school education. Anyone that attacked and killed their cat because he Had a slight mishap on your lap should be considered somewhat dangerous!!! Also it is very hard to get a decent job today without some type of training for special skills.

I am sorry, but you are stuck with those jobs and work your way to management. Nobody wants to help someone who doesn't go to a community college to improve themselves and learn computer skills. The staffing agencises won't help people anymore unless they worked at some company even if it is a short time. You are stuck.
