From what I am reading about the Iraqi Shiite relationship with Iran, it appears to me that Iraq will ally itself with Iran the first chance they get. Al Maliki has already stated that he doesn't want American and Iran to bring their fight to his country. We are there helping his country, at great cost of lives and money to our country, while he criticizes us for fighting with Iran while there. Iran should not be there stirring up killing. They ignore that.

I don't know about closest ally but they could become allies because the government of Iraq is now dominated by Shiites as is the government of Iran. When Iraq was Suni dominated there was reason for them not to get along. Now they can do alot to screw the world out of oil money. They both have to work together because if one tries anything the other can fill in the gap. Working together what power they could have.

Only when Iraq breaks into three pieces to avoid a civil war. The Shiite side will form a close alliance with Iran and start support terrorist acts against the Sunni portion. The Kurdish portion will support terrorism against both Iran and Turkey until a greater Kurdistan is allowed, and the violence will go on and on, until someone discovers that religion is the source of all the violence.

I'm wondering where you got your information. Maliki stated to the U.S. that he NEEDS those additional colation forces to make this new plan work. I doubt very much if Iraq and Iran will be on a palsy, walsey basis anytime soon.

Keep in mind, Iraq needed a new form of government in place. To begin a new government, it takes time, money and sometimes the assistance of others...such as we're doing. Iran is taking their fight there because they don't want a democracy in the eastern countries. This is a FIRST...

Iran is supporting the insurgency according to the US. Iraq and Iran have been foes for years. The US supported Iran against Iraq in the past. Remember the Iran contra affair?

I agree. Once our presence is no longer there in Iraq. You won't be able to blink before Iran is all up in there.
