according to my coaches... you should eat lots of carbs the day before a competition that requires a lot of endurance and energy. Do not eat more than you normally do however because then you might get sick. whole wheat pasta, sweet potatoes or brown rice is best. drink PLENTY of water because then you will not get dehyrdated during your competition and get plenty of rest the night before. the day of, eat SMALL portions, but more meals. stick to higher protein and lower fat. I would stay away from eating too much carbs closer to "game time" because then you will feel too full. Eating carbs makes me sleepy so that is not your best bet the day of... Hope this helps!

I would eat carbs. Pasta is the most well known and most often consumed item. You do not want to chow down on heavy foods, meats, chicken etc. cause those just tend to sit in your stomach and do not break down as easily. Its ok to have a little, but not a lot. Make sure your fluids are up. Like your drinking enough water, juice and occasional Gatorade. Stay away from sodas, and energy drinks, they do nothing, but zap your energy.

If it's an athletic competition load up on pasta and i mean load up on it. The night before eat nothing but pasta maybe put some garlic butter over it and just load up on those carbs. You may even want to have some again for breakfast before the competition. Thats what my wrestling and football coaches used to tell us.
GOOD LUCK

I don't know if this is the best food, but I do remember before every football game in high school we would have a huge spaghetti dinner.

I would eat a healthy granola bar and maybe a bottle of water. But don`t eat too much or you might not have alot of energy.
