Okie, well, to the answer above me who said Intelligence cannot be diminished or improved, I disagree. Intelligence can be improved.
To answer your question, first it's important to define intelligence. Keep in mind there is not just the typical intelligence that people speak of which can be determined by "IQ" tests. There are other forms of intelligence, e.g. emotional intelligence and physical intelligence. This includes lots of other things.
It's also important to ask yourself why you want to be more intelligent. What purpose will it serve you? Do you just want people to think good things about you? Do you think it will improve the quality of your life? etc.
Consider these things:
Read lots. This will help improve your IQ, and improve your language skills. Language is an important and necessary part of society and the cultures in which we live in. It will also help you expand your vocab if you take the time to learn the defintion of words.
Improve your problem solving abillities. To do this, you have to consistently face challenges, and give your brain and mind challenges and problems to face that will help keep it sharp, and over time your ability in solving problems will increase.
Look after your health. Do exercise everyday. Train your body to be the healthiest it can be. The brain functions better when your body is healthy. Also, it helps to increase body awareness and physical intelligence.
Try lots of different things out, and as many different experiences as you can think up. Some people only live life doing certain things, the same way. Try to be creative. Maybe pick a completly different thing to do each weekend? Always change things around in your life, and don't become accustomed to a boring, set routine. You will achieve the same results in life if you are constantly doing things the same way. Be open to all sorts of things, EVERYTHING!! here are some suggestions; read about lots of different religions and spirituality (even if you don't believe in that 'crap' it helps you develop different points of view), try lots of different sports, and activities, study things that could apply to you. Study some science that is significant to you. Take up a musical instrument. Learn Martial arts
Increase your awareness, and your ability to focus with a strong attention. Also improve all your mental functions, e.g memory, attention span, learning ability. There are endless ways this can be done. Meditation is one way. Playing chess is another.
Listen to self help speakers. Listen to their audio recordings, and read their books. you can d/l some for free if you know where to look.
Don't learn something for the sake of learning it, just to make you seem like you know lots of stuff and you're intelligent. Your time on earth is limited, so only learn stuff that applies to you and you find interesting.
Work on your analyzing skills. This is important.
Be as open minded as possible.
Don't live life like most people seem to do: watching t.v for hours every day, or playing video games for countless hours. Get up and do something productive. Engage your mind creatively, and get your brain to work properly.
Research anything that you wish to find out about.
Understand that intelligence is a state of mind, not an absolute. Intelligence is a relative term, but most people who are considered intelligent usually know a lot about a lot of different things, they are usually good with at least one language, they have multiple talents, they are good at problem solving, they are not ignorant, etc etc.
Study the lives and habits of people who are considered "intelligent".
Understand that everyone is potentially a genius. You just have to discover your genius. They say genius is the ability to pay attention to details. That is so important because most people always miss the small details (sometimes even the big ones!), and that way you will just become blind and ignorant rather than intelligent.
blah blahh blah, there are probably a million other things that can be listed. most of it you can find out through intuition. just use this information, and expand on things yourself, be creative, find out what you want, why you want it, and if you REALLY do want it, and then how to get it!
good luck
oh and by the way, don't become a nerd while you're at it. nerds only focus on learning lots and lots of things to improve what they factually know, instead of increasing all types of their intelligence. People like bruce lee kicked total a$$, because he was cool and was a total genius at the same time. he increased his intelligence in all aspects, and was creative, and analytical and open-minded. bye.

Read, anything and everything. Harry Potter books, textbooks, new books, old books online news articles, opinion papers, historical accounts. Collecting as much information about as much as possible and listening to how people think and why they think the way they do broadens your mind and that is the characteristic of "smart people".

To begin with - 'Intelligence' is not something we can enhance or diminish, it is inherent. 'Smart' is a hole other matter, one which we can control by 'learning'...like learning the proper way to spell 'whole' which I just dummied with 'hole'.
That's why there are probably lots and lots of geniuses in the world whose intelligence will never see the light of day due to lack of opportunity to learn.
