putting files onto a dvd...?

Question

i like to download episodes i've missed on my favorite shows onto my computer...but is there a way to take the files (i think they're avi format - whatever that means) and put it onto a rewritable dvd AND play onto a dvd player?

i'm really bad with computers, if there's a way to explain in full detail and in baby steps? sorry and thanks

Yes you need to........

Have a burning software (Nero, Easy CD Crater etc)

Put the writable disk in your CD burner. In the program set it to DVD so it will burn for DVD and not CD. Then search for the file and add it to the burn list then click OK then Burn. it will start burning the file onto the DVD. It will say when it is done burning click finished and you are done.
