New Jersey (especially Newark, Jersey City, Camden and my all-time favorite Atlantic City) reminds Filipinos of urban Manila in terms of its high degree of filth and crime. The NJ-based Italian mafia is just like the corrupt authorities in the Pinas. How sweet.

In short, it comfortably reminds them of home.
