While the wireless router option touted by the majority of people here is the best way to go, you need to find someone who knows about SECURITY, or your NEIGHBORS will also get access to your network.
Be sure you understand how to secure your wireless network so that only YOUR computer can log onto it.
In my subdivision, 2 people got wireless routers over the Christmas holidays. I know, because both of their networks started showing up on my daughter's laptop at the same time!
She was able to use either from her room!

You will need to get a wireless router. From there you will either need 2 wireless network cards or one and hook the other one up like it is now with the network cable.
Simple as that. The router goes in between the cable modem and the 1st computer. And then install a wireless card for the other. The rest of it will be explained when you purchase a router and card. Which you can find in a package deal at most places.....

Wireless is the answer. Assuming the 2nd PC is not a laptop you need a wireless router card for it and a compatible wireless router with at least 2 wired ports for the cable modem and the local PC. Put the router by the pc with the modem and hook the PC LAN cable into the router and a cable from the router to the modem. In the second PC just install the wireless router card. Pretty easy to do and if you don't feel you can do it you should be able to find someone who can.
The directions for setting it all up will be in the wireless routers package.

yes, networking is the only way to connect the second computer to the Internet (which is just a *BIG* network).
Options:
wireless networking - buy a wireless router and two wireless network adapters. connect the adapters to the computers and the router to the cable modem. make sure to change the password and enable security to prevent anyone else in the building from hijacking your connection.
phone-line networking - if you have a traditional telephone, there are devices that can establish a network between your two computers using the existing telephone wires in your home. you'll then need to enable Internet Connection Sharing on the computer connected to the cable-modem.

It should be easy.
1. You will need to buy a wireless router and a Wireless Card(assuming you computer does not have built in wireless card).
2. Take the ethernet cable from the cable modem and plug it into the new wireless router.
3. connect the computer with existing internet connection to the new wireless router using the cable.
4. Connect the wireless card to the second computer.
Please read carefully the installation instructions you get with the wireless router and follow them.
Make sure you have used a secured connection for your setup, its safe to do that. The wireless router installation/instruction manual should have steps for you to do that.

You can get a wireless router for the computer connected to the cable modem and a wireless pci card for the one that is not connected and they can share the internet with no cables and the internet will be the same speed on both. Make sure that both computers have all their updates and that the router and pci card are of the same brand and combatibility.

You can use wireless networking. Get a wireless router and plug your cable internet connection into it. You will need a wireless network card for your non-internet computer. Once you have that installed you will be able to connect to your wireless network and get on the internet without cables.

yes, you will need to network, go wireless.
get a wireless router (either by linksys, or dlink or netgear)
get a wireless card for your second computer, have someone install it, or install it yourself *by reading directions*
use the same ethernet cable that's plugged into whatever now on yoru 1st PC into the router you just bought.
viola your two PC's (and your neighbors laptops) are now online.
secure your wireless network on the router so that you're not leaving yourself open to a network hijack..

Yes, get a wireless router. Linksys is a good brand and are really easy to set up with the free software.
