Considering the current political climate, do you think it is possible that we may someday become so divided, that people of differing views will not be able to live together in peace? Will we have to someday create some type of legally separate countries? What do you see for our future in this respect?

A house divided cannot stand. We have already been to the point where the people were so divided that we split into 2 countries. It happened in the 1860's, a little conflict, perhaps you have heard of it, The American Civil War. It is possible that we could reach this point again. Politics have always divided people in general, but the only way the country will ever be divided is through civil war and let's hope that it doesn't happen again.

No. The reason is that a vast majority of Americans aren't extreme one way or another. Most are willing to listen to everyone's side of the story and weigh all options. Most Americans want to do what is right for our country, whether or not they are liberal or conservative. The problem is we don't hear about them, it is the few who are so far gone to one side or the other that are here screaming out their views. They want the attention. Also, Louis G is a little naive. The ultra rich already run the country and have for as long as anyone can remember. THe politicians is power answer to the people funding them, not to you and I.

No, I don't agreed with you on two Americas. The USA already fought a war, a civil war to united us. About having different views and opinions, I think that, that's what make us strong as a Nation, that we could differ and still be one Nation. That's what make the United States of America the best country in the World. All of this fight is not new, it have always being like that, since the beginning of our Nation. Look back into our history and you will see that being different is what make us strong.

the second civil war? the first one took about fifty years to escalate to a point where compromise no longer sufficed. succession was sparked because inept politicians kept passing the buck. scary how this is paralleled now. we are escalating to a breaking point, and government across the board is littered with inept politicians. however, succession was a result of diminishing economic security; as of now, we may or may not stand to loose our economic security.

learn from history people, just because we're bored doesn't mean we have to kill each other...
