And are all bipolar people mean and nasty much of the time? I try to sympathize with them but, sometimes it's difficult because they are so mean. I know this makes 3 quests. but, do they behave much better when they take their meds?

I would still like to know if they behave better when they take their meds. I've known 2 females with this cond. and they both have needed to feel special and pretty, even though they're not. No one says they're not but, they know it. Could this contribute to their actios? People try to be nice to them but, it doesn't help. They can function in society but, the one of them is just so mean.

No one is mean all the time. A little compassion is what is needed. My son is schizo-affective and is not always the most pleasant person to be around; but you must realize its part of their disease. Would you be pi**y with a person who had cancer and was in a bad mood? Same thing...not life threatening, but they just can't help it. They don't need your sympathy, they need your understanding.

no so much feel sorry for them..i sympathize with them, i mean they only reason why anyone acts out especially more if they are mental challanged is to try and maintain a level of control so they do feel so completely helpless...i try to understand not to take it personal..i worked in alot of different medical facility where i encountered a wide range of people that have mental disorders..and it is always the same..mean, nasty, and sharp with answers..and of course when treatment is done and they got through the scary part..they are cool as bean and come out apologizing to me for being rude..but there are those rare people that just want to have all the control all the time and are just nasty..no need to get mad at them just sympathize and not take it personal..and wish them all the best in their lives in maintaining a healthy well balance life...

I am not sure sorry is the approach. I think understanding is the way to go.

Everyone has emotion, when you are dealing with them and got upset, i guess you just don't hold grudge against them.
