I don't think that it's worth it because it will cost maybe alot more than you would need to pay when you could buy a new one. Then after it gets fixed a little while after its going to have another problem and so on. So finally the cost will add up. So you should just get rid of it and buy a new one it will be much better.

Why not fix that tube yourself. Pull back the washer, then start it and identify the leakage area. Then take off that rubber part and take it to an appliance parts place and they will match it for you. My guess is this thing wont cost you any more that $10 to fix it. Dont be afraid of the thing, worst thing is you will have to call a repair guy. Id call a handyman not some kind of high power tech guy paying him $50 bucks an hour, that is certainly not needed here.
I think that is is irresponsible to junk a washing machine for some kind of a leak in the back. Burned motor or a a gearbox gone then, for sure, but a water leak. NO WAY

If you are going to pay for the repairs then you are better off buying a new washer. I've seen washers as cheap as $200.00 without all the bells and whistles. To get a medium grade or top grade washer plan on spending double that. I was in your position a few months back and did research on new washers and repairing my own. My washer is about 20 years old and we were lucky enough to find the parts manual online. We, like you, already knew our problem so we ordered the parts ourselves and did our own repairs. Total cost was $40.00 in parts. Like I said, we got lucky and was able to save cash. You should research your washer online to try to find the manual. The following link is for panasonic, put in your model # and see if they have your washer manual online. http://service.us.panasonic.com/OperMan/
If they do carry the manual then all you need to do is order the parts needed from a local panasonic dealer.
Good Luck & God Bless!

I know nothing about your brand washer... But I just went through a issue with my washer leaking water out the bottom of it and it turned out the water pump.
It had a bad leak....
The repair guy replaced it....
Washer works now...leak free.
He also noticed the big black tube going into the bottom back of the washer was missing a clamp to hold it in.
So for Visit to the house and parts cost was $126.49.

the answer to your question lies in the hourly service charge panasonic is going to bill you to fix it. the parts are probably about 65.00 dollars for a bad seal or other small part. the 40.00 dollars should be waived if you accept the repair, but that would have to be agreed upon before the inspection. and probably 2 hours at the hourly rate they provide you. I would price shop the sales and compare.

Another answer is buy a good used one. We have a great used furniture store in town. They buy broken appliances, repair them and then resell. I just bought an apartment size duo- W/D for $150.00. They came with a 90 day guarantee. By the way, they were to replace ones I had bought, at the same store, 8 years ago.

get a new one. A lot of applicance stores have scratch and dent sales. Or Sears often runs a 1 year no interest sale.
