Usually the test is done in the office and the results are pretty fast so usually you can find out while you are still there. Or you can say you'd like the results as soon as possible and hang out in the office until they let you know.

Blood pregnancy test and HCG level take only one and a half hours to complete once they reach the laboratory. It may require time to get the specimen to the right place.
It is polite for the doctor to call with results but not necessary. It is easier for him to answer your questions about the results at that time than for a nurse or aide to try to transmit the question and the answer.
The doctor calling is not unusual and should cause fear.

sometimes, but other times you have to go in and get them from the doctor, it just depends what the test was for and how the doctor office operates. The doctor should have told you, I will call you in a couple of days or call me. I would call after about 4 and then see what the results where.

I never waited for my doctor's office to call me, I always called them. If they were waiting on the lab, the nurse would call me back once they received the results. My doctor never called me. Maybe there is a question about the hcg level and the doctor needs to review the results before calling you back. If the doctor is going to call you, then you probably won't get a call until the end of the day when he/she is through with their patients for the day.

the nurse cannot tell you anything until the doctor goes over your blood work he might have been busy and hadn't even looked at them yet so don't worry My daughter had a test to check for cancer in december and I was worried out of my mind I keep calling the office and they told me they would call back when the doctor reviewed them and told me to call the following thursday If I hadn't heard from them well when I called there office had already closed for christmas holidays and didn't reopen till after the first of the year I was miserable all through christmas but everything turned out alright and I worried for nothing so try to take it easy

My Dr called me with the blood test results...some have procedures to follow. The nurse doesn't want to be responsible for wrong information given, or isn't qualified to give them.

Usually it is the nurse who calls. It should only take 24-48 hrs for a call back. Call them if it is any longer than 2 days.

It depends on your doctor's procedures.., my HMO doesn't even do routine blood serum pregnancy tests, just urine tests which you call and get the results for from a nurse.

where i go you have to come back in and see a nurse to get your test results. its normal sometimes the doctor wants to discuss the next step in restarting your period if the test is negative or get you step up to see an obgyn if its positive
