I'm torn - Muhammad, Marx, Keynes, Hitler...... I don't think Hitler could have taken full command of the German people and then used that command to do evil without the prior general acceptance of the subordination of the individual to the state - i.e., without Marx there is no Hitler (and no Stalin, Pol Pot, etc...) - I mean Hitler would have lived but you'd never have heard of him.

Similarly, Keynes told government officials what they wanted to hear - his ideas didn't lead to genocide of tens of millions but they did lead to life being more difficult for hundreds of millions than it would have been with financial independence. It's almost like comparing battle deaths to battle wounded.

Then there is Muhammad. He killed thousands in unprovoked raids to spread his religion by force. He preached hate and murder and taught that God wanted people to kill and every year tens of thousands take his teachings literally.

In terms of numbers of lives lost so far, I vote Marx...

Muhammad, hands down.

You vote for the number of lives lost so far and choose Marx. I agree.

But in terms of the number of lives that WILL BE lost, I vote Muhammad.

I mean no offense but to speak quite frankly, unless you've read at least some of the Koran I don't think you are all that qualified to speak on what Muhammad preached and what he didn't preach. There are millions of Muslims in America not killing anyone, not to mentioned the millions more that live relatively peacefully around the world. You have the right of course, assuming you are an American citizen, to do so. But then again, so does the Ku Klux Klan.

And I don't understand what connection Marx has with Hitler, Hitler was not a communist, he was a fascist.

And if you've ever studied Marx, you can't really blame him for what happened decades after he died. Even while he lived, his ideals were clearly idealistic to the point of being absurd but he didn't advocate mass murder. He never would have imagined what later happened in Russia or China. In terms of lives lost so far, I vote Papa Joe Stalin, over 100 million dead thanks to him.

What the hell did Marx have to do with Hitler other than that they were born in the same country? Marx was far leftist and Hitler was a fascist at the other end of the politcal spectrum. Right away I know that you are ignorant.

I vote for Charlemagne the christian slaughterer. Tens of thousands of Europeans were forced to convert to Christianity by his sword point. Whoever didn't convert, he simply killed. He and his men once killed 4500 people from a single village in one day because they hesitated too long in trying to decide. We could also point to the tens of thousands of Christian terrorists worldwide.

When are people going to realize that religion is the leading cause of death of all time. No one is better than another - whether it is preached or not they all practice extremely grotesque violence whenever it advances their cause.

By the way nice defense of Hitler the Christian. He was just speaking his mind and the Germans should have just disagreed. Yeah, and all the other christian countries shouldn't have sent their Jews to Germany during that period.

Pope Constantine, somewhere in the 12th century. He is the one who started the Wars of the Crusades, by demanding an army to overthrow the Muslims. The knights have a terrible record of burning masses of people alive, chopping off their heads and starting this unending "holy war." Until he wanted to be in control, most of the populace lived in peace, had an established trade and respected each other's beliefs. So far as the rest of these mad people in charge, they all seem to dictate from a safe distance.
