A london-based recruitment company offered me a possible job in a gas and oil company said to be operating in the Netherlands. They sent me some communications regarding the job offer and later they have sent me a copy of the terms of contract agreement for which they asked me to review and sign. I submitted everything that they requested until i received from them an email with attachment described as an APPOINTMENT LETTER from the said gas and oil company in Netherlands. The london-based recruitment company advised me to forward that Appointment Letter to their immigration consultant said to be the netherlands. Although i was fascinated by this job offer, i have some curiosity in mind whether these things are true or not. I just want to understand how a possible employee to an oild and gas company in the netherlands could get a residence or work visa. I appreciate your answer and assistance. thank you...

Actually , the Netherlands does have a small but flourishng oil & gas industry, exploiting quite a few concessions in the North Sea, and gas fields in the north of the country. Most of these are operated by a consortium consisting of amongst others Royal Shell, Exxon and the Dutch Gov.'t. Provided this is a bona fide job offer, information about temporary work permits can be obtained from the IND, the Dutch Immigration Service (see: www.ind.nl - English section).
In my experience, it's customary for the hiring company to take care of all the red tape, including visas.

Start making some phone calls.

Oil & gas companies working out of Netherlands MIGHT have connections to Nigeria (which is a major oil & gas producing country). This job offer MIGHT be a scam, and Netherlands is a MAJOR place the scammers work out of because people no longer respond to any Nigerian address due to the scamming.

But if this is a legal company - then the appointment letter should be adequate proof to get you a work visa so that you can work in Netherlands. Thats the ONLY way to get a work visa - by having a letter offering you a job, stating how much you get, your title, and how long the contract is for. Its quite normal.

Just remember Netherlands itself does not have any oil & gas. It just has a LOT of water and sea walls.

hi,
i think you have to care about scam. normaly the hiring company or recruiter has to provide help for visa. the company may pay you all the fees for this, don't pay anything with your moneyto a "consultant".maybe the dutch ambasssy in your country can give you advices.
i hope you'll work soon ;)
